Full course description

THEO-N005-The Profession of Faith (2 CEU's)

Based on Pillar One of The Catechism of the Catholic Church, this course (formerly 306-0801) explores the deeper meaning behind the words professed in the Nicene Creed and in the Apostle’s Creed. Students will study the nature and origin of the formulas used in the Creed noting the contributions of early Christian writers. Students will address the traditional role of the Creed in the catechumenate and baptismal liturgy, as well as expanded roles in safeguarding the Faith from heresies and other philosophical currents of thought. Finally, several lessons will examine the content of Catholic Doctrine as it is developed in the First Pillar of the Catechism. Students who successfully complete this course should be able to use their knowledge of the Creed to evangelize more confidently.
