SPIR-N113-St. Augustine's Confessions & City of God (1 CEU)

This online independent study course will guide students through two of the most influential texts in Western Christianity, written by one of its greatest thinkers and Saints. Students will briefly explore St. Augustine’s life, giving consideration to the moral and social setting of Christians in North Africa.  The course will then address The Confessions, focusing on the author's desire to know "God and the soul." And finally, the students will reflect upon the historical and political dimensions of St. Augustine's other great work, The City of God.
