Full course description
Each week there are readings, videos, questions for discussion with other physicians and written assignments that give you opportunities to apply what you have learned to real life clinical situations. This course will enhance your practice of virtuous medicine and give you language to articulate the Church’s moral teaching as expressed in the Ethical and Religious Directives.
Upon completion of this course, you will be better equipped to serve on ethics committees and serve the public health by promoting policies respectful of the life, dignity and nature of the human person in a clear and concise manner.
You will also be able to apply Catholic moral teaching more effectively in the resolution of complex medical dilemmas.
More importantly you will be further equipped to provide information to families in areas of ethical consideration – not just the obvious end of life issues, but also in many other issues– for instance, adolescent participation in their medical decisions.
